So this story started 2 years ago with the install of the Sense Solar whole home energy monitoring system.
After I got Sense tuned up and had my device list and started seeing historical data there were a few items that were interesting. (RV Fridge, HRV, Sump Pump) This story relates to the sump pump.
My house has a basement sump pump as do many in my area. Its something that is largely ignored and just is... but after Sense started reporting its run time counts in the 300 - 500 times per month it got me wondering how much water each pump cycle actually expels.
So I did an experiment and cut the outflow line where it comes out of my house (it exits the house above ground on the outside before just dumping into a street sewer connection) and directed the outflow into a plastic kids swimming pool. then I came back the next day.
